COMPARISON
INCINERATION
01.
The process
Endothermic reaction which needs external fuel/ energy to continue the process.

02.
Economy
Small scale setup is not feasible. Large facility has all the issues from transporting the waste to managing the residue. The constant requirement of fuel/energy increases the operation cost very
high.
03.
Green House Gas
Incinerators working at high temperature and produce toxic fumes during the burning process. The smoke produced includes toxic gases, carcinogenic dioxin, particulates, heavy metals, and nitrogen oxide.
04.
End product
The end products in this process are toxic in nature and need treatment before disposal. Heavy metals are mobile in nature and end up in landfill leachate. No economic value due to high level of toxicity.
05.
Manpower
Need skilled manpower to run the entire facility. Requires continuous monitoring.
06.
Capacity
Not feasible for small capacity set up for towns/ localities/ hill stations.
LTTD
01.
The process
Exothermic reaction, thermally self-sustainable, thus no need of external fuel/ energy to destroy
the waste.
02.
Economy
Decentralized small scale machines eliminate transportation cost. The self-destructive process eliminates fuel/energy cost. Operation cost is very low (0.4 per Kg).

03.
Green House Gas
As the operating temperature is very low, the generated flue gases are very less and will be cleaned with appropriate filters maintaining PCB standards.

04.
End product
The end products are mainly combustible low molecular weight compounds. Heavy metals are immobile as get stuck into the porous char. These types of mineral rich ash can be used for non-soil uses like ceramic, composite etc. Total residue is 10 times lesser than incinerators.
05.
Manpower
No need of skilled manpower. Every day the machine can be loaded with fresh charge (waste) 3 times.
06.
Capacity
Perfectly suitable for small scale waste generators like small apartments, hospitals etc.
